In what has become an all too common occurrence for the people of Florida, the state tried to force some home owners to remove a vegetable garden from their from yard or face a $500 dollar fine. Only last year a family’s garden was torn out of their front yard in Florida after not paying the incurred fines from the city for violating zoning laws. Image credit: YouTube

In the video posted below, Luke Rudkowksi of WeAreChange speaks with Jason and Jennifer Helvenston, gardeners who were targeted by the state. Are Americans losing their right to grow their own food peacefully on private property? The U.S. and Florida constitutions are supposed to protect property rights from arbitrary invasions, but it seems that the government is once again not following their own laws. After taking the fight to the government and winning the city has withdrawn their demands to tear up a beautiful garden.
